Systems Administrator
What this role is responsible for:
At Crimson we depend on having our IT systems work smoothly. We are a fast-paced, global company, and down-time makes us sad.
As one of our Systems Administrators you will help build and secure the systems that let us keep changing the world, student by student.
The role is focused on delivering projects so that we can provide the best IT experience possible, including investigating and delivering new solutions, investigating how we improve our existing solutions so things are automated and just work. Sometimes it will be looking assisting our IT Support team
You will lead infrastructure and security improvement projects, and step in on operational support when required. Being a global business there will sometimes be a need to work outside of normal working hours. (this is not an exhaustive list):
Lead infrastructure and security improvement projects
Manage, support and secure cloud platforms such as Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom and related SaaS systems
Improve identity and access management, permissions, and governance controls
Design and improve operational processes, documentation, and technical standards
Support automation and systems integration projects
Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and operational support where required
Monitor and improve system reliability, performance, and security posture
Further, you will be responsible for proactively identifying operational and security risks, and creating documentation and standards that lift the whole team's capability.
What success looks like:
Keep people up-to-date on your progress with their query; there is no such thing as over-communicating
Deliver projects on time, with clear communication on progress and blockers.
Self manage including time management between project and support activities.
Improve our security posture and operational resilience over time.
Find long-term solutions for recurring problems
Create guidance and standards that lift the wider team's capability.
How you’ll know you’re crushing it (KPI’s):
Project completion on or before agreed deadlines
Improvements in security posture against agreed benchmarks
Reduction in identified governance, access, and configuration risks
Customer Satisfaction ratings
Decreasing number of recurring incidents over time
What skills and experience you’ll need:
Strong systems administration and infrastructure experience
Experience managing cloud-first environments and SaaS platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, or similar)
Understanding of security principles, governance, and operational best practices
Experience delivering technical projects and process improvements
Experience with automation, scripting, or integrations is highly desirable
Great written and verbal communication skills
Diagnostic mindset
You will need to pass a police background check as you may work with systems containing student information
